Technological literacy, to most people, relates only to computer and electronics uses per the Gallup Poll commissioned by The International Technology Education Association (ITEA). The New York State Technology Education Association, (NYSTEA) and all of its members must participate in conversations about technology literacy's role in its broader context.

The New York State Technology Education Association (NYSTEA) Advisory Council believes that technology education has a critical role to play in eliminating the gaps in math, science, technological literacy, problem-solving skills, and preparation for all technical fields while serving the needs of all students who are either entering the workforce from high school or continuing into post-secondary education.
