As a result of the NYSED and NYSTEA April 30th and May 1st Summit deliberations, NYSTEA and New York Institute of Technology have agreed to support a Teacher Center Online Academy (OLA).

The Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries to Partner with NYSTEA

The Beacon Institute for Rivers and Estuaries will partner with NYSTEA for the 2010 Annual Conference. As a result, Technology Education teachers from all around New York State are invited to apply for participation in a NSF grant they received. The project is called Student Enabled Network of Sensors for the Environment using Innovative Technology (SENSE IT) project.

The Teacher Center Online Academy will now be open to those who are interested in becoming an online facilitator.  A 45-hour course for potential online instructors will be offered beginning the week of March 30, 2009.

Fort William Henrey Resort and Conference Center has agreed to push back the cutoff date for making reservations until April 20, 2009. The rates they are giving us are great, starting at $225.00 for 2 nights and meals based on double occupancy. starting at just $137.00 for Thursday night with meals based on double occupancy.

What:  Students design repair tool during the current Space Shuttle mission (STS-125)

While the current Space Shuttle mission is making upgrades and repairs to the Hubble telescope, seventh grade technology students will do their own simulated repair and activities related to life in space. The actual repair is scheduled to occur during the fourth space walk of the STS-125 Atlantis mission on Sunday.

You will learn a good deal about all the work-based learning programs, related curriculum and new computer skills such as blogging, Google Docs, Wikis, etc. Every assignment is "real world applications" for your current classes you teach today or the program you may coordinate in the future.
