The New York State Technology Education Association (NYSTEA) will hold its 2009 Annual Conference in Lake George, New York. This marks a return to an area that is rich in American History and is one of the most scenic sites in New York State. This year, the Fort William Henry Resort and Conference Center will  be our host.

In an ever changing world, education cannot stand still. With the challenges of new initiatives to meet the ever increasing needs of our students, NYSTEA has taken a leadership role in providing guidance, useful strategies and approaches for its members. To that end, NYSTEA, in partnership with the New York State Education Department held a highly successful summit in the Spring of 2008. The outcome of that summit helped to put in place a number of Action Steps.

The 2009 NYSTEA Conference will focus on “Reaching Across the Curricula” with a look at the “Science, Technology,  Engineering and Math (STEM) initiative’ and “Educating the Whole Child.” We will also be looking at the development of  On -Line Academy courses to further professional development as well as a look into the NYSED Virtual Learning System. There will be a wide variety of presentations from our members as well as our 2008-09 Mini-Grant recipients.

Once again our Sustaining members will be there for the vendor show. Over the years they have shown us great support and have become a fixture at our annual conference. I am sure they will have the latest and greatest to show us again. And don’t forget about the Ship’s Drawing.

The 2009 conference will begin on Wednesday evening, April 22nd, with the 46th Representative Assembly and  conclude on April 24th. In between there will be presentation from some of the brightest educators in our profession. We will be  inducting new members to our professional fraternity,  Epsilon Pi Tau, have updates from SED, honoring our Regional Teachers of The Year and have the opportunity to spend some valuable time conversing with our peers.

See you in Lake George!!
